Only the Lonely

I always think I'm going to write more with the girls away, and usually I do, but this time I dove into work to keep myself from feeling lonely at home. Three days after she learned to roll over my daughter and wife headed to Poland to see the family. Bianca, who rolled over for the first time on Sunday, was an expert by Tuesday. On Wednesday they had 14hrs of traveling all told: Santiago to Palma de Mallorca, then on to Berlin, over the border and on into Poland. It was a long, long day for Ewa, but Bianca, perhaps sensing how much her mother needed her, was an angel. They are enjoying their stay very much, but Bianca has proved our hypothesis that she sleeps with the lunar cycle as she has been up at the crack of dawn in PL, which comes much earlier than it does here. Even though we are at -8 degrees of longitude, we are still on Central European Time. I think this will translate into late nights and late mornings this summer.
Its too quiet in the house without them and though I've got 8 consecutive hours of sleep a couple of times, I continue to wake up expecting to hear a fussy baby. I look at their pictures constantly and while I don't want them to feel bad about going for two weeks, I miss them all the same and can't wait for their return. I had forgotten how boring single life can be. After two days of leaving my clothes lying around and not doing dishes I was ready to return to responsibility. They come back next Thursday and the following Monday we are off to Tenerife for a proper family holiday.
I'll distract myself this weekend with the NCAA tournament. Good night girls, I love you!
